Internet Explorer 5

by P.J. MCDONNELL

Back in the good old days, people were able to work freely without the luxury of the Internet. We now live in a society that literally could not function without the Web. Small Businesses, corporations, government, and even ordinary people depend on the Internet as a vital platform for both communication and information.

Some job markets require that you have experience surfing the Web. For some people, surfing the web can be completely different because of the web browser they use. While some people are comfortable with Netscape, other people are more comfortable surfing with Internet Explorer. Regardless of any biases one may have of Internet Explorer, Microsoft's newest Web browser, Internet Explorer 5 (IE 5)is the best available web browser on the market.

The beauty of IE 5 is the fact that it can be used by both novice users, and by web developers. The most admirable feature included in IE 5, is that it saves you time on the things you do most often. To enable easy location of recently viewed sties, you now have multiple views of your history. You can view by date, by site, by most visited, and by order visited per day.

Another nice feature is the quick address feature. With this option, all a surfer has to do is type in the first few letters of a web page address. As soon as the browser finds a recognizable pattern from the address, it will show a list below the address bar of possible addresses. This feature can be especially beneficial when typing in long URL's.

Also included is an auto correct feature. It automatically corrects common misspellings in URL conventions like "http://," "www," ".com," and so on.

Another great thing about Internet Explorer 5 is that it gives you the freedom to use the Web the way you want. You can select Web based mail providers like Hotmail or Yahoo as your default mail client. This way, mail-to links and mail that you read all work with your web mail.

IE 5 allows users to designate the default HTML editor they choose for manipulation of web pages. You can also use additional editing programs from a drop-down menu off the "Edit" button on the toolbar. IE 5 also has a feature which allows people who use other web browsers to import and export their list of bookmarks. The most promising new feature of IE 5 is it's ability to view all aspects of a web site. IE 5 allows users to view all current types of Java Script, ActiveX, DirectX, XML, and Dynamic HTML available.

Internet Explorer 5 has set the standard for the way a web browser should function. It is timesaving, gives the surfer the freedom of choice in all web based applications, and allows users to see exactly how a page should look like without script errors. With the increasing demand for workers to be familiar with the Internet, IE 5 is the only true choice to receive all the benefits the web has to offer.

I happen to really like IE 4.5 that just recently came out for Macintosh. It has some GREAT new features such as Auto Form Fill which (with the click of a button) completely fills in those annoying forms you have to fill in, such as when you buy something online and they ask for your name, address, phone number, etc.It really makes life easier and I love it. :)

Are you sure about that?

Your review is slightly biased there buddy. Did you compare it to Netscape or Opera?!?!!?? The New IE doesn't do anything earthshattering, unless you've been using some outrageously outdated browser. I personally don't like some of Microsofts products. Specifically their OS which you're stuck with unless you're a LINUX wizard, and thier web browsers which are simply out there to compete with Netscape. Netscape loads pages faster, and supports more formats. Next time before you publish a review, please do some research.

I have seen both sides of the browser battle. I like Netscape better. I do not like Explorer. Therefore, I think I'm justified in saying what I like and what I don't like. Leave me the hell alone. Go play God with someone else.

Comments:
Isn't funny how people are so biased about something as stupid as a damned web browser. IIf you are only partial to one thing in your life, you will never truly see what all life has to offer, and in this case your ignorance to Microsoft will you in what your web experience can be.

Comments:
I will never switch from Netscape to Explorer. Never. I will never ever switch. Microsoft? Boo. Netscape? Yay! I'm not switching. I hate I.E. I don't care if they come out with a browser that can iron my pants, I am not going to Explorer.

I'm alot happier with IE5 than 4.0 and i kind of like it. One problem I noticed is when you are filling out forms...it pauses between entering into different boxes....not sure why? Still need NS to view certain material though....shhhhh
