James Cameron's "The Phantom Menace"

by JACK VASVARY

To compete with George Lucas's soon-to-be hit, "The Phantom Menace," director James Cameron will begin filming his version of the 'Menace' film. He predicts his film will surpass Lucas's 'Menace' and Cameron's own film, "Titanic." Here is a synopsis of the current plot line thus far.

Newcomer Jake Lloyd plays Anakin, the blond, nine-year old demon with a special power known as the force. Perhaps the best bit of casting is the choice of Ray Parks as Mr. Wilson, (although his voice will be dubbed over by James Earl Jones), the grumpy neighbor, who becomes the target of Anakin's frequent pranks.

Thrown into the group, with no other reason than to provide a Home Alone-type villain, is Darth Sidious, a homeless thief who roams the neighborhood stealing purses and breaking into houses. Darth's role is perhaps the movie's biggest mistake since it takes the focus away from the more interesting Anakin/Mr. Wilson plot line.

Anakin's highjinks will ultimately lead him to side with the evil Darth Sidious, and the once peaceful planet of Druidia, will perish to the dark side. We will slowly see this changes in next two films in Cameron's trilogy.

Cameron's film is the first CG cartoon of the 'Menace' spin-offs. He wanted to make it 100% digital as compared to Lucas's film which is only about 95% digital. The effects are amazing and seamless. They will surely win the academy award.

Will Cameron's film be a hit? We'll just have to wait and see. The film hits theatres on May 18th, the day before Lucas's film. (Be sure to check out the exciting go-kart race segment of the film where Anakin takes on some of the best racers on the planet)

I think this is quite lame. There are people out there who take time to do satire but this sucks.
