Music lovers, I have your scoop! On-line shopping for music is the way to go, and it's easy too.
AMG, "All Media Guide," is best used to research music. The site has an incredible amount of information on every band imaginable. It has an "all music" category that you can click to search by artist, album, song, style or label. There is a space available to type in what you are searching for.
There is another search method: style of music/type of music with two scroll down bars. You choose from 13 genres of music, then content: overview, styles, essays, music maps, key artists, key albums, and new releases. I chose to search "rock." I got a list of sub-groups encompassing everything from "Acid House" to "Philly Soul" to "Tee-Pop."
I clicked on "Acid House" and was taken to a page that broke the genre down even further with specific bands listed under each of the genres. Click on your band of choice, and you get more info on them than they have on themselves! It tells you when the group was formed, which years they were active, the genre, styles, and labels. You get a bio with links and a "read more" link. You get clickable related artists, followers, bands they have worked with, discography, and the list goes on. Then, you get to rate the quality and style of the artist and submit your ratings.
UBL, "the Ultimate Band List," is best used for the music world's headline news. An interactive site, you can click on links to hear songs, or you can enter to win free stuff. (e.g. concert tickets, t-shirts) If you like what you hear, then click on "CD NOW" link to purchase it. UBL has an alphabetical search for artist. They also have UBL specials, and store information. In "UBL Recommends," they list what they call, "Artists on the Rise" that are "on the brink of stardom, you may not have heard before." All are linked to sites where you can listen to the songs, read about the band. It lists prices of cd's too.
This site has on its home page highlights, and spotlights of different bands. There are featured bands ("Cake" in this case) that can be clicked. The link takes you to a page where you can find out all kinds of neat stuff about the featured band.
Overall, both sites are great for music lovers, each just has it's own flavor. For detailed information and searches, go with AMG. If you want to buy yourself a CD, surf onto UBL and go ape. Peace and rock on.

Just wanted to make one correction...In the third paragraph it is supposed to say "TWEE-POP" not "TEE-POP" don't ask me what TWEE-POP is, but nonetheless, I wanted to verify that.
