Unless you've been in a galaxy far far away, you have probably heard that a new movie in the Star Wars saga will be in theatres on May 21.
This is actually the first chapter in nine part story. (episodes 7,8, and 9 will not be made) "The Phantom Menace" will be the beginning of three prequels to the movies we all know of. This time around, we will learn about Annakin's (aka Darth Vader's) story and how he became the evil lord of the Empire. We will also see the origins of R2-D2 and C-3PO.
Okay, so this may not be new news for some of you, but here's some of the latest on whats happening. George Lucas recently announced that the first full length trailer will be released sometime in March. He hasn't given the specific day. A new poster will accompany the trailer. The new trailer may be the only other trailer we will get a glimpse of before the "Phantom Menace" comes to theatres.
The February 1999 issue of Vanity Fair had an article in which the "crawl" (the text shown at the beginning of each film) was added. The article was written by Lynne Hale, who has been given permission by Lucas to document the film.
We will more than likely NOT see an appearance Boba Fett. There are several rumors however that he may play a pivotal role in Episode 2. As I briefly stated earlier, Lucas announced that he will not make episodes 7, 8, and 9. He says that by the time he finishes Episode 2, which will hit theatres in 2001, (Episode 3 in 2005) he will be a little up there in age. He won't have the time and energy to make the last three. He also said he won't turn the franchise to anyone else. It just wouldn't be the same.

It's a shame that the last three episodes will not be made. However, Lucas has done an outstanding job in contributing to the lifespan of science fiction.
