Students Explore Jobs at Career Week

by JEFF POLLARD

Every January, Radford University holds a Career Week. This week is an excellent opportunity for all students to get a look at what jobs may be available for them when they graduate.

Events include more than 25 programs and seminars designed to help students explore their career opportunities. The highlight of the week is the Employment Fair on Wednesday, where students can meet employers and get a closer look at specific career opportunities in their field.

I urge each and every student to attend at least one program this week. This is a great opportunity to get a closer look at the field in which you study and at possible career options.

For more information on Career Week, check out the Career Service Center's Web page or call Tammy Donahoe at (540)831-5324.

I am upset that there were no government recruiters at RU's career week. Is RU responsible for booking the vendors and employers, or is it the other way around? I think a great step towards taking RU higher in the limelight of Virginia schools is to start with government involvement. There are many students here seeking future government employment, whether FBI, IRS, or anything else for that matter. Shouldn't they get an opportunity to speak with recruiters? Are RU students not important enough? Are we not at everyone else's caliber? Just something to think about...

If you might be interested in attending law school, click on the above link. Many of our students come from Radford. Check out the ASL. It might be right for you.
