What goes on in bathrooms at RU? Is it the usual business, or perhaps something more? Students taking last week's Life survey shared their opinions on some personal habits.
According to students polled in last week's Whim survey, strange things go on in the bathroom. One female psychology major said that women mostly talk about guys in the bathroom. "We get the whole low-down on them," the RU senior said.
Men in bathrooms have different habits, however. "I consider [bathrooms] my
think-tank, one student said. "That's where I do my thinking."
A media studies student said, "My major life decisions are made when I'm on the
John. Sometimes I even use the phone there."
Regardless of what goes on in the mind, both men and women visit the chamber
three to four times a day, according to last week's poll. Add roommates and
other people to the situation, and things change a bit. "When someone else is
in the bathroom and I'm doing my business, I'll try my hardest to wait for them
to leave," one male student said. Others, like art major Michael Sos, go about
their business regardless; "That's why it's there."
The next time you head for the John, think about what you're doing. You may end up doing what you never thought you would do. It may just freak you out.
