Where are you going for spring break? Every year, I encounter the same
problem of finding a flight to Florida that I can afford. Each airline
seems to offer different programs with different incentives. Whether it be
frequent flyer miles or savings certificates, I never know where to
start.
Luckily, with the popularity of the Internet, you can now search for flights
on-line and even purchase your tickets. Most airlines offer sites that
allow you to enter your travel information into a form that will display
the available flights and prices. Some sites also offer information on flight
schedules, your flight status, vacation packages, mile plans, car/hotel
rentals, contests, newsletter updates, and various specials. Airlines call
this process "E-fares."
One E-fare site I found,
4Airlines, searches all airlines at once based on your date
and time of departure/arrival, seating preference, and number of
passengers.
Now that you have your ticket information, there are a few important things
to consider. Here is my Top 12 list:
1.) Before you leave home, call the airport to make sure your flight hasn't
been cancelled or changed.
2.) Be at the Airport at least an hour early.
3.) Make sure you have at least 90 minutes to catch a connecting flight. If
you don't and the plane is late or you get lost in the airport, it's your
fault!
4.) Make sure your luggage has a tag that includes your name, phone number,
and address.
5.) Make sure your luggage is tagged to go to your final destination.
6.) It's a good idea to pack a few items of clothing in your carry on
luggage. (You'll thank me if your luggage gets lost.)
7.) Some luggage scanners can ruin undeveloped film.
8.) If you must take expensive items, pack them in a small carry-on
bag.
9.) Don't leave without that small carry-on bag in the luggage compartment above
you. (You laugh, but it happens!)
10.) Don't joke about bombs of guns - you could be prosecuted. (Not to
mention it would put a damper on your spring break.)
11.) As annoying as it can be, LISTEN to the EMERGENCY instructions! You
never know when you might need to use them.
12.) Finally, use your head and be safe.
I hope everyone has a good spring break! Tell us where you are

Radford University doesn't have an oncampus or school-affiliated travel agency (for student rates and the like) does it???

No, not at all. I enjoy myself wherever I am. You must have misread what I wrote. I plan to catch up some "me time." That means that when I am in school, I work for everyone else. When I'm not, I take time for myself. This has nothing to do with the article, so I'm ending discussion here. duh. Brian :)

Do you have have to go somewhere "else" to enjoy yourself? If you do, you should probably stay there.
