Aww-right. What is up with "THE MAN" taking Pokie's piano? Huh?? I didn't hear you! Who ever you are, cough it up!! Now I understand that Trinkle Hall is a special hall that caters to artists and musical people. I just want to know WHO is going to give up their piano for Pokie?
I do not even live there (legally) anymore but I did two years ago. I still visit quite often and I know for a fact that there was ALWAYS someone on that piano! As a matter of fact, I was in the lounge studying on Tuesday afternoon around 12:30 when the piano was loaded up into the truck. I witnessed many residents' disappointment when they immediately noticed that it was missing. They asked me and each other, "Where is our piano?!?!!?," "Somebody was ALWAYS playing that piano!," "Who took it?"
I would encourage all who know what I'm talking about to demand answers to these legitimate questions. It is a shame that it was swiped. It is even more of a shame that no one bothered to let the residents in on the whole deal. By the way, WHAT IS THE DEAL??!!?

as a music major living in pokie, i was extremely disappointed when our piano was taken. at least three of us on the second floor are music majors, and we depend on that piano when practice rooms are full. there are also several non-majors who like to play, as well. i like to play for pleasure at night sometimes, and i can't always find someone to walk with me all the way to powell hall (i don't walk by myself at night as a rule) where the practice rooms are. also, if i just go into a practice room and play for pleasure, i feel like i'm wasting time that someone else could be using to practice. i have several friends in trinkle, and they don't see how this is unfair (they're the Fine Arts Dorm, after all), but i know if they lived in pokie, they would be just as upset as i am.

I think the whole situation is messed up. I have lived in this building for 3 years now, and that piano has cheered me up so many times. I can't express in words how nice it was to walk by and hear people playing on it, or hearing people learn to play. Music is a talent, and it is a gift to those who hear it. It's a damned shame that Pokie can't hear it anymore.
