I think that I speak for all college students when I say that I am just sick and tired of being called on the phone and asked to sign up for yet another credit card.
Not a day goes by that the phone doesn't ring with a pushy Master Card or Visa operator on the line. It wouldn't be so bad if maybe one time the phone would actually ring at a convenient time like when I'm not doing anything, but it's always when I'm asleep or right in the middle of studying. I really hate to be rude with the operator because I feel like they're just doing their job, but there has got to be some kind of way that students can get the credit card companies off their back. The only way that I've figured out to get them to quit calling me is just to politely tell the operator that I already have one credit card and that I can't afford any more.

i think we should call the solicitor back while they are at home trying to relax. i think they would really enjoy being interupted.

I HATE phone solicitation too. I always just tell the telemarketer that the person they are asking for has moved and to remove their name from the list. It usually works, but if not, I just tell them that I just filed for bankruptcy last month. That usually gets em'. =)

You know, the irony is funny here. We've got someone asking to remain nameless making strong accusations that the writers making strong accusations should "stand up for [their] ideas" and NOT be anonymous. What a crock of shit. That is just plain funny.
Good point about the law, though. That is true. If you say, "Don't call me again" and they do, they can be held to fines up to $500 for each offense. On top of those charges, RU has charges against phone and door-to-door solicitations on campus. Check your handbook (yea, right) for details.

You know, I am a little sick of reading anonymous articles on this web site.
If you are going to spread your views to the world, stick your name behind it and stand up for your ideas.
Oh, and by the way- tell the phone operator to take your name off their mailing list. By federal law, THEY HAVE TO COMPLY. And since many of these places share lists, you will save yourself a lot of trouble down the road.
