Walking down the campus path to the Dedmon Center with no shuttle, I attended the "Eve6"/"Third Eye Blind" Concert. An enormous turnout, varying from little children to grown adults, came to fill the stands and floors of our vast athletic center."
Opening the concert was "Eve6" with an awesome array of songs, featuring the most known "Inside Out", with surprise features and other popular and unknown songs. In my opinion, "Eve6" was better than "Third Eye Blind."
"Third Eye Blind" did quite well, but I prefer their recorded style to their live version of music. It did not impress me, and I am probably not going to go see them in concert again, unless
they have some extremely good songs coming out on this new CD they have.

Okay, this concert was mediocre. "Third Eye Blind" sounded bad. "Eve6" went on first and played for
about 35 minutes which disappointed me. but did not surprise me. Those guys sounded fabulous! They
sounded clear. They just rocked. I was told that the guitar part was a tape, not live. A music major here at RU told someone that he thought that it was taped, and then that person mentioned it to me.
Who really knows? At any rate, I had a better time listening to "Eve6" than to "Third Eye Blind."
Before 3EB themselves came out on stage, a flouncy, yellow curtain waved. The sillouette of a
voluptous woman dancing behind it caught the attention of the guys sitting behind me, no doubt about that! One said, "Is that a naked woman back there because if it is, I'd like to see that!"
But as quickly as he slurped that drool back into his mouth, the chick vanished, the curtain fell, and 3EB took over. I remember that aside from their sound system not being up to par, with feedback and distortion, the lead singer's squelching did not impress me at all. He kept screaming into the microphone, eating it, which would have been fine if his voice had not been breaking and cracking. He sounded completely different than he does on the radio. Not just because it is live, but it is really different.
As a showman, he was gracious and almost humble! He commented about how the band had walked
around campus and got to meet some students. In general, he just seemed lively and thankful to be hanging out with us. He didn't seem tired or snobbish at all, which was cool. He complained that he'd eaten some of the worst soup he's ever had in his life at BT's for lunch. Also, he said that the band got to meet the RU baseball team in the locker room and that all he had to say was "the baseball team's girlfriends really know how to @#^!" While we are on the
subject of sex, he also said that MTV told him that we had taken more free condoms from the tents
than any other university in the United States. He told us that we have got to be the horniest f'ers on planet earth. He then said, "Ive got to see you, let me see you." So the yellow lights shone down onto the crowd as he told us that we looked good!
Crowd surfing was all sorts of fun for the people on the floor up front. A fair amount of moshing went on but not a whole lot. Moshing at a 3eb concert? Kind of makes me smirk. It seems silly to me, even. Moshing is such a hardcore thing. 3eb is such a NOT hardcore thing. One thing that I have to ask is: WHY DOES EVERYONE SEEM TO GET ALL 'WEAK AT THE KNEES' FOR 3EB, AND PASS OFF EVE6 LIKE YESTERDAY'S BAGELS? Is it just because they are "Third Eye Blind?" Have you no interest in substance just because "Third Eye Blind" is a bigger name than "Eve6?" That is what's weak, guys. WEAK!
