In the brief history of computer generated cinema, "ANTz" makes its name known as a soon-to-be classic.
The concept is brilliant. A single ant, alphabetically named "Z," living in a colony of socially-oriented ants comes to the realization that no ant has to work like a robot. His free-thought philosophy ultimately gets him into trouble, when he falls in love with the colony's princess and switches places with a soldier ant to see the princess in person.
After he becomes a soldier and survives a treacherous battle with a local band of termites, Z, the free-thinker that he is, gets shunned from their colony. Z kidnaps his love interest, Princess Bala, and flees in search of "Insectopia," the ultimate heaven for insects.
As a huge fan of Computer Graphics, I take every opportunity to watch any movie that offers the technology. "Toy Story," my favorite digital movie, is probably only my favorite because it was one of the first. "Toy Story" was one of the first full-length movies that attempted one of the most difficult effects with computer graphics-- smoke. "ANTz" not only depicts smoke, but water, condensation, dew, and prism effects caused by glass in the sunlight. "Absolutely amazing" are the words I use to describe the incredible effects of this movie. The textures and lighting are so incredibly realistic. This is one movie you'll have to see to believe.

One other thing I didn't mention in this article is the huge cast of vocal talents. Woody Allen, Sharon Stone, Gene Hackman, Sylvester Stallone, Christopher Walken, Danny Glover, Dan Akyroyd and Jennifer Lopez are just a few!!!
