Radford University's Criminal Justice club provides Criminal Justice majors an opportunity to visit some of the places they could be working after graduation, such as police departments and prisons. Being involved with the club also gives members a chance to get to
know each other outside of class. However, you donıt have to be a CRJU
major to join; the club is open to all students enrolled at RU.
This year, a trip to a federal or state prison is being planned. Many
members have already taken a trip to a shooting range. The club also volunteered to help during the Take Back the Night event a few weeks ago. Another event
planned is the annual criminal justice job fair next semester.
One of the fund-raisers for the year many of you may have seen; all of the
professors in the criminal justice department were placed under arrest and put "in jail" in the Heth plaza. Money was then collected for each professor that was "in jail".
The more money that was given for someone, the longer they stayed in
jailı. This was a lot of fun, and many students ended up out of class
for most of the day.
The club at has a fairly large membership, but only a fraction of Criminal Justice majors even know the club exists. Many people donıt even find out about it until their second or third year at Radford.
If youıre interested in finding out more on the Criminal Justice Club,
e-mail crjuclub@runet.edu. Meetings are held every other Monday at 6:30 P.M. in Heth Lounge B.
