Gamestock: Is this what would have happened if Bill Gate was a hippy?

By James Andrews

On February 18 Microsoft held their Gamestock convention. At the convention Microsoft reveled some of their upcoming releases due out later this year along with some of the games and devices the company has just released.

The most popular of the games reveled was the sequel to Microsoft’s current action/strategy game Age of Empires. The sequel will feature the dates from the collapse of the Roman Empire till the time right before the discovery of the new world. Some of the featured civilizations will be the Teutonic, Japanese, Byzantine and the raiding Viking, Mongol and Celt (a personal favorite here at Radford). Improved gameplay is expected with alternatives to fighting like building up the players economy.

Another hit at the show was the Sidewinder Freestyle gamepad controller. Which will feature Microsoft’s killer gamepad design with a brand new tilt feature. The tilt feature will allow the player to control certain actions in the game by tilting the controller promises to be a hit when it comes out.

Asheron's Call is an upcoming Internet game, which will allow thousands of players to compete in a role-playing game via Microsoft’s Gamecenter. Spitfire will be a new WWII flight simulator which will feature technology from the Microsoft flight simulator series. It looks like the upcoming year promises to be a good one for Microsoft and players from around the world.
