It's Tuesday night, 10:15 at the 1106 Tavern. The band practiced until 3:00 in the morning the previous night. Tonight they're competing for people with the band Too Skinny J's somewhere else in town and the virtual shooting game in the corner. Only a few people notice when they start to play.

The band goes through a long list of songs, from covers like "Wanted, Dead or Alive," and Otis Redding's "Dock of the Bay," to their own originals, such as "Pipedream," and "Steamtrain."

In the middle of one song, the pace slows down and Adam approaches the microphone and does an amazingly realistic bird whistle, adding a mock romantic quality to the song.

Then Andy plays a solo while his brother Adam divides his time between backing vocals and banging the mike into his eye.

The playful attitude of the band is one of the things that is appealing about it. Adam typically spends half the time joking around, and Jones provides the audience with laughs. Sometimes a member will take a break, get a drink or a cigarette while the ot hers continue to play. They frequently hold up a tip jar and complain about how empty it is.

Jones' biggest fault is forgetfulness. He recently got a plastic cord to attach to his keychain, which he constantly loses.

But his strength is in communicating with the crowd. He knows what the people like, and he knows what gets them going.
