Alexei G. Orlov

 
 

Alexei G. Orlov is an associate professor in the Department of Economics at Radford University. He received his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Virginia, and has taught at the University of Virginia, Virginia Tech, and Babson College. Orlov holds a visiting associate professor position at the American University in Bulgaria, where he teaches in the executive MBA program. He has taught a variety of courses, ranging from undergraduate money and banking, macroeconomics, econometrics and international economics, to graduate-level managerial economics and entrepreneurship in the global economy.


Orlov’s research interests span the fields of financial economics, macroeconomics, international finance, and econometrics. His articles appeared in the Journal of International Financial Markets, Institutions & Money, Economics Letters, Financial Markets and Portfolio Management, and other refereed outlets. On occasion Orlov does business consulting in the areas of economics and finance. His current research topics include financial contagion, unconventional monetary policies, and exchange rates volatility.


Outside of academia, Orlov enjoys tennis, soccer, swimming, guitars, piano, motorcycling, and traveling, among other activities.
