What is the ACM?

ACM, the Association for Computing Machinery, is an international scientific and educational organization dedicated to advancing the arts, sciences, and applications of information technology. With a world-wide membership of 80,000, ACM functions as a locus for computing professionals and students working in the various fields of Information Technology.

ACM is the world's oldest and largest educational and scientific computing society. Since 1947 ACM has provided a vital forum for the exchange of information, ideas, and discoveries. Today, ACM serves a membership of more than 80,000 computing professionals in more than 100 countries in all areas of industry, academia, and government.

Why Should I Join ACM?

ACM as a whole can do a lot for you. It gives you the opportunity to learn more about the industry through local activities and guest speakers. Not only will you benefit from being a member of the Radford University student chapter, but you will also benefit from being a member of the National ACM. As a member of the National ACM you have access to a wealth of information that can be valuable during and after your college career.

Being a member of the Radford University student chapter gives you a good opportunity to get to know other students and faculty as well as to have fun at our regular meetings. ACM is a good way to get connected.

Do I Have to be a Computer Science Major to Join?

No! ACM is open to any member of the Radford University community (undergraduate, graduate, faculty and staff) that has an interest in computers and technology.

What Does it Cost to Join the ACM?

The Radford University Student Chapter's annual dues are $5. This covers refreshments for meetings and various other activities.

The National Chapter dues vary depending on what membership level you purchase. Membership fees begin at $20.
