The Office of Academic Enhancement, part of
the Division of Academic Affairs, complements and supplements
the curriculum with services and programs designed to assist
students reach their full potential. Academic Enhancement collaborates with the academic deans, the departments under their supervision, and the Division of Student Affairs to enhance students' experiences at Radford University. In this
way, students have the opportunity to engage in a wide variety
of activities that are intellectually stimulating, prepare them
for post-graduate careers, and increase the likelihood they will
successfully complete their programs of study at Radford
University. Academic
Enhancement encompasses: |

New Student Programs (NSP),
which offers a comprehensive web of support for new students,
beginning with Quest and transfer orientation programs.
NSP also coordinates the offering of UNIV 100, Introduction
to Higher Education, the FIRST and SORTS retention programs, and
academic advising for pre-major students.

The Center for
International Education, which assists students pursuing study
abroad, facilitates international programs on campus, and advises
international students, faculty, and departments with immigration
needs.

Faculty Development Center,
which provides opportunities for faculty, staff, and graduate
students to gain new skills, enhance old ones, and continue to work
toward improving the RU community of learners.

The Learning Assistance and Resource Center (LARC),
which provides academic support through tutoring in disciplines such as math and science,
writing assistance for all disciplines, reading help in content courses, learning strategies workshops, and one-on-one counseling.

Academic Advising,
in which faculty and professional advisors help students make good
choices about courses, programs and majors so that they might
achieve their academic, personal, and social goals.
- Technology in Learning Center, which is devoted to developing approaches to effectively integrate technology into the learning environment at RU. The TLC works with faculty, staff and students to support the effective use of technology to improve teaching and learning.
- Experiential Learning and Career Services, which enhances the ability of students to secure satisfying employment by working in concert with faculty to help students better understand themselves and their interests; by providing them with the opportunity to engage in practical experiences to complement the knowledge they gain in the classroom; by helping them build confidence in the job search process; and by providing them with contacts with employers and internship sites.
