The Office of Academic Enhancement, part of the Division of Academic Affairs, complements and supplements the curriculum with services and programs designed to assist students reach their full potential. Academic Enhancement collaborates with the academic deans, the departments under their supervision, and the Division of Student Affairs to enhance students' experiences at Radford University. In this way, students have the opportunity to engage in a wide variety of activities that are intellectually stimulating, prepare them for post-graduate careers, and increase the likelihood they will successfully complete their programs of study at Radford University. Academic Enhancement encompasses:

  • New Student Programs (NSP), which offers a comprehensive web of support for new students, beginning with Quest and transfer orientation programs.  NSP also coordinates the offering of UNIV 100, Introduction to Higher Education, the FIRST and SORTS retention programs, and academic advising for pre-major students.

  • Faculty Development Center, which provides opportunities for faculty, staff, and graduate students to gain new skills, enhance old ones, and continue to work toward improving the RU community of learners.

  • The Learning Assistance and Resource Center (LARC), which provides academic support through tutoring in disciplines such as math and science, writing assistance for all disciplines, reading help in content courses, learning strategies workshops, and one-on-one counseling.
