RU Printing FAQ’s Computer Labs - Campus Wide |

Am I given any free printing allocation? |
|
|
All RU faculty/staff and students are given a $5.00 printing allocation at the beginning of each fall semester. Faculty and Staff are encouraged to use their departmental printers for the majority of their printing needs.
Users without active RU accounts will need to visit the Front Desk at the library to add money to their printing account. Once this is done, you can print at the library and all other general purpose and academic labs.

How can I check my print balance and usage? |

You can check your printer balance by logging into MyRU > My Accounts.

Am I limited to what I can print? |
|
|
Yes. The academic computer labs are for academic purposes only. The lab proctors reserve the right to cancel your print jobs.

How do I add money to my printing account? |
|
|
You can either add funds to your printing account at the Library’s Front desk or at the Walker Technology Center.
Walker Technology Center Procedure:
1) First verify that you have money on your RU Express account.
2) Go to the lab monitor station and swipe your RUID and tell the lab manager how much you wish to add to your printing account.
Library Front Desk
You can either use your RU express money (same process as above) or pay cash.

Am I charged if I print from the Macintosh computers? |
|
|
Yes. The same procedure applies when printing from a Macintosh computer. You will be prompted to enter your username and password.

Am I charged for the cover page that prints out at the Walker Technology Center? |
|
|
No. The cover page is necessary to determine which documents goes with each user, you will not be charged.
|
My job was deleted from the queue, am I going to be charged? |
|
|
No. If your job was deleted from the print queue before it was sent to the printer, you will not be charged.
|
The printer malfunctioned and my printout is not legible, am I going to be charged? |
|
|
No. If the printer malfunctioned and your printout needs to be resubmitted, you will not be charged. However, it is your responsibility to go to the lab proctor in the Walker Technology Center and show them any salvageable parts of your printout. In the library, go to the Reference Desk or the Front Desk.

Where are the printers that I am allowed to print located? |
|
|
Please visit our departmental and general purpose lab website to find out the locations of the labs. Departmental lab hours are limited because many are reserved for classes and department use only. In addition to these lab printers, you can also print at the McConnell Library.

Can Alumni or Retirees print in the labs and/or library? |
|
|
Yes, however they are charged as well. You will need to add printing funds at the McConnell Library Front Desk

If I don’t use all my printing allocation, will I be refunded? |
|
|
No. Any of the free printing allocation left over at the academic year will be deleted when a new allocation is added each fall semester. Any printing money that you have added personally will carry over while you are at RU, but will not be refunded when you graduate or leave RU. As you get closer to graduation, it is recommended that you add money in minimal increments.

How can I cut back on the amount I am printing? |
