Student Media

Radford University's Student Media groups comprise some of the most creative students on campus. Their collective mission: to educate, inform, entertain and inspire, while learning about the process involved in the publication or broadcast of the media. Radford's student media organizations include:



The Beehive
Named after RU's previous school seal, Radford's yearmovie - the Beehive - is published each spring. The Beehive is the product of a team of hard-working photographers, editors, writers and designers and captures year after year of RU memories. e-mail

Exit 109
Radford's literary and arts magazine, Exit 109, features the talents of student artists, writers and photographers. Exit 109 is published each spring and is distributed free on campus. Exit 109 holds premiere parties for every new issues, and also hosts poetry readings several times per year, which showcase student-created works of poetry, literature and sometimes music. e-mail

SMADS
The Student Media Advertising Group,or SMADS, provides advertising sales and advertising design services for all the student media, and helps manage the business side of these revenue-generating organizations. e-mail

ROC TV
ROC TV ("Radford on Camera"), broadcast weekly on RU's Reslife channel, features student comedy, news and commentary, and other programming. ROC is entirely written, produced, performed, taped, edited and aired by Radford students. e-mail

The Tartan
Radford's weekly student-run newspaper, the Tartan, features news and information about Radford University and the surrounding area and is distributed both on campus and around town. Founded in 1921 as The Grapurchat, the Tartan is Radford's oldest student publication. New contributors are always welcome. e-mail

Whim
Radford's weekly online magazine, Whim, features articles and graphics related to life both on campus and off, including technology, entertainment, cartoons, sports and editorials - from the practical to the outrageous. Whim also offers an online forum for student feedback. e-mail

Radio Free Radford
Radio Free Radford is Radford University’s official internet radio station. We are student run, student staffed, and student programmed. We offer a wide variety of music and student produced programming for your listening enjoyment. Anyone can be a DJ for RFR! No experience necessary! We’ll teach you everything you need to know. e-mail
