Student Media consists of six other publications other than SMADs.

The Tartan is our biggest advertising medium. It was created in 1921 and is the official student-run newspaper. The Tartan has a circulation of 4,000 and distribution to more than 30 key points on and off campus. This medium is free-of-charge and reaches more than 10,000 students, faculty and staff at Radford, as well as the surrounding communities. It is published on a 11” x 21” broadsheet format with four sections: News, Sports, The Scene (entertainment and arts), and Insights (commentary and editorial), as well as a classified section. Ask your Sales Rep for information regarding special editions of The Tartan.

Whim is Radford University’s Internet Magazine. It is the award-winning weekly student-run online magazine. Whim provides entertainment and an alternative news source for Radford University students, alumni, faculty and parents. Whim publishes every Friday of each academic week. Each issue is packed with original articles, graphics and even cartoons produced by talented students. The unique thing about Whim is that it is FREE to access and can be viewed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, making it an effective way to reach more than 10,000 students at RU as well as the world.

The other Student Media Publication advertising is either in the making or seasonal. We have an annual Yearbook Magazine that is put out by The Beehive and we also have an annual Literary Magazine that is put out by Exit 109. Check with your Sales Representatives for more information as this information often changes based on the size and specs of each medium.
