ASSIGNMENT I

Personal Job Survey
Create a sub-folder (within the "coms484portfolio" folder) and call it "personal job survey." Create an index.html page to
Find five job descriptions
of jobs that you would want (can be listed in chronolgocial order of importance).
Students will present each of their five "ideal" job descriptions and lead a discussion on:
- Why they chose the job? (20pts)
- What are the challenges involved in obtaining the job? (20pts)
- What strategies can be used to obtain the job? (20pts)
- What challenges will having the job create and how will the student maintain good job standing and even excel
? (20pts)
Presentation = (20pts)
Students must write a small narrative addressing each of the questions per job listed. The narratives should be written on the "index.html" within the "personal job survey" folder.

Training For the Field Post Graduation (undergraduate)
Create a sub-folder (within the "coms484portfolio" folder) and call it "postgradtraining." Create an index.html page to
list at least five post graduate BA/BS options for training and further education in the field. (can be listed in chronological order of importance).
For each post graduate training idea/strategy one should provide the following: 
- What the training is - be able to provide concrete examples  =(20 pts).
 
- Where it can be found (sites, links, addresses, etc) = (20 pts).
 
- Website - with images, links, and one paragraph narratives per each of the five examples listed  = (20 pts).

- One article to identify and support the training (must be able to discuss article and provide source - MUST bring a digital or hard  copy of the article to class) = (20 pts) 

- Presentation = (20 pts)

Conduct an Interview:
Find someone in the specific (precisely specific for your current desired vocation) field that you want to enter. Ask the following questions:

- What training is typically required for your vociation/field (5 pts)
- What training do you have (educational background, etc.) (5 pts)
- What led you to this field (5 pts)
- What are the drawbacks of your field (5 pts)
- What are the perks/positives (5 pts)

Provide the following information:


- The field (5 pts)
- Person's name and position (5 pts)
- The organization (5 pts)
- A dedicated webpage that links to the presentation (5 pts)
- A summary on the page (5 pts)

Presentation:

Research: 
Read the following article: Disappearing Computers, Social Actors and Embodied Agents

Create a presentation via Flash or PowerPoint that highlights the key ideas within the article. Also, within your presentation, provide some modern examples of technologies (particularly for social networking) that embody some of the ideas behind the CASA paradigm. Use the APA 6th edition guidelines to site your work within your presentation. Use the APA 6th edition  guidelines to site any other sources that you may use.

Presentation:

- Create a slide show either via PowerPoint or Flash (as a .SWF slide show, etc.).  Narrate your information to the class verbally while displaying your digital presentation.

Rubric:

From 5 to 10 minute range = 20 pts

Applicable and accurate content = 20 pts

Clear and understandable info  = 20 pts

Accessible presentation (via website keeping file size in mind without bandwidth issues, etc) = 20 pts

Quality of digital presentation (richness, interactivity, usability) = 20 pts

Total = 100 pts

Entrepreneurial project - Come up with your own eCommerce business idea. It must be original and completely unique. 
Create a presentation via Flash or PowerPoint that highlights the key ideas Also, create a flash animation to demonstrate the progression of your idea from start to success. 

Rubric:

From 5 to 10 minute range = 20 pts

Original and unique idea = 20 pts

Complete, clear, and understandable info  = 20 pts

Applicable Flash animation (diagram, etc.)  = 20 pts

Quality of digital presentation (richness, interactivity, usability) 
Also, accessible (via website keeping file size in mind without bandwidth issues, etc) = 20 pts

ASSIGMENT 6

Create a "main page" (one page) with a menu for an ePortfolio. This page should be representative of a "uniform"template for ePortfolios for COMS/MSTD specifically in the area of Web Design. You will present this creation to the rest of the class and explain/defend/validate your menu items/links, design, and layout via your research (also in regards usability, click through rates, what employers want, etc.).

Rubric:

Depth of research (amount and credibility of explanation resources) = 25 pts

Degree of validity for links, layout, and design = 25 pts

Presentation (clear, coherent, deliberate, quality visuals, audience interaction) = 20 pts

Accessibility (no bandwidth or page loading issues) = 10 pts
