Douglas and Beatrice Covington
Center for Visual and Performing Arts

Douglas and Beatrice CovingtonRadford University's fifth president, Douglas Covington, and his late wife, Beatrice, were among the strongest supporters of the arts at RU. The Covingtons, along with their fellow arts patrons, were always watching the horizon and imagining what could lie beyond it. Their love for education through the arts was an invaluable asset to the university and to the New River Valley. It is a fitting tribute to the Covingtons' legacy that the new Center for Visual and Performing Arts be named in their honor.

"This facility . . . will become a valuable educational resource for the university, this community, and the region. . . . The naming of this facility is a great honor to me personally, and to my wife, Bea. I know that today, Bea is smiling."
