Responsible Attitudes About Drinking

●  Know that drinking is not a solution to business, personal, school

    or family problems.

●  Do not tolerate or condone the behavior of those who irresponsibly

consume alcohol beverages.  There is nothing funny about a

    drunk.

●  Drinking is not acceptable recreational sport, nor will drinking make

make you smarter, more successful, or sexier.

●  Understand that alcohol abuse is the act of an individual, often

based upon social, physical, mental and emotional factors.  The

treatment, then, must be aimed at the individual.

●  Understand the difference between alcohol abuse and the disease,

alcoholism.  Alcoholism is a disease, treatable by medical

science.  Alcohol abuse is a social problem best treated through

    education and responsible example.

●  Know you own limit for alcohol, and stop drinking before you reach

it.  Know when not to drink, such as when taking medicine.

●  Know that by exhibiting a responsible attitude about drinking, you

become an example to others, a model for conduct and behavior.
