Dr. Laura Jacobsen is currently serving as the Associate Dean of the College of Graduate and Professional Studies. Prior to this position she was an Associate Professor in Mathematics Education and currently serves as Coordinator for the M.S. in Mathematics Education Initiative.
She has experience in teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels for K-12 preservice and inservice teacher education programs. Courses taught included mathematics content, mathematics methods, and educational research and foundations topics.
Dr. Jacobsen has special interest and expertise in issues of equity and diversity in mathematics education.
For example, she has developed an undergraduate Mathematics for Social Analysis course for the elementary and
middle grades preservice teacher education programs, as well as a graduate Issues of Equity and Diversity in
Mathematics Education course for inservice teachers in the master’s program for secondary mathematics.
