Class Information, Solutions page, etc.
- The PHYS 307 class information sheet that I handed out the first day of class.
- The instructions for installing Mathematica on your computer are here: http://www.radford.edu/content/it/home/it-support/software/general-software/mathematica.html. A number of assignments for this class will involve Mathematica, which is industry- and grad-school-standard mathematical software.
- The example Mathematica notebook that I continually update from class. If you click on this you will get a big text barf that's not useful. You need to simply right-click on this, save it somewhere, and then open it with Mathematica.
- The PHYS 307 Maple worksheet with the examples I show you in class. Right-click the link and save it to your computer before opening it. If you're on an RU computer then save it to your H: drive and open it with RU's Maple.
- Link Instruments (www.linkinstruments.com) lets you download the software for the DSO-8500 digital oscilloscopes that we have. You can download/install the software to run the DSO-8500 at http://www.linkinstruments.com/doupdate.htm You need the file
'wdso8_2k.exe.'
- Here are two nice little programs that lets you turn your sound card into a simple oscilloscope: Zelscope, available at www.zelscope.com and soundcard Oscilloscope at http://www.zeitnitz.de/Christian/scope_en. Note: These have problems with Windows7 notebooks--you might have to run the sound through an "aux" input if your notebook doesn't have a true stereo hardware microphone input. Or you'll have to get a usb-to-stereo input adapter.
