Class Information, Solutions page, etc.

  • The PHYS 301 class information sheet that I handed out the first day of class.
  • The textbook for this class is Meteorology Today, 10th ed. by C. Donald Ahrens.
•, a site that I'm just amazed--in a good way--that it exists. You will want to download the following three zip files onto your own computers. Right-click on each of the three links below and choose "save as." Put it on your desktop or someplace simple to find.
    • The HRPT Reader program
    • The runtime library bundle to teach Windows how to run this
    • The countries.dat file that lets you see the state and country boundaries.
    • If you have a Windows computer, install the software ReadHRPT on it by doing the following:
      • Unzip the above 3 things (right-click on each and choose "extract all.").
      • Put the countries.dat file inside the unzipped readhrpt folder.
      • Put the readhrpt folder inside your Program Files folder.
      • Run the runtime library setup.
      • You should now be ready to use HRPT Reader.
    • You might also get their program WXTrack which allows you to display the orbiting weather/environmental satellites. Way cool.
  • Here is where I will occasionally have downloads for the class.
