PHYS 111:112 Labs

These will be posted the weekend before the labs (since we are constantly editing these). Print them out before you come to the lab. There is a computer lab down the hall from the physics lab. The physics lab is in Reed Hall 119. The computer lab is Curie Hall 147.
  • Lab 00: Trigonometry review--never to be turned in. I will copy this one lab and give it to you in class. You will need to print out the rest of the labs.
  • Lab 01: Velocity and Acceleration; Sept. 3.
  • Lab 02: Velocity and Acceleration 2; Sept. 10
  • Sept. 17: No formal lab this week.
There will be a general review of the material for the first exam during this time. You are welcome to come to additional lab times if you want to hear this review multiple times. Note that Dr. Huston has lab/review Mondays at 12noon and 2pm. My labs/reviews are Tuesday at 10am, 12noon, and 2pm. Dan Blake has his lab/review Tuesday at 4pm. You are free to simply show up and these other times (i.e. you don't have to notify the instructor beforehand). From past experience, people who sit in on more than one review tend to help their overall exam performance.
  • Lab 03: Forces and Free Body Diagrams; Sept. 24.
  • Lab 04: Friction and other forces; Oct. 1.
  • Lab 05: Work-energy theorem; Oct. 8.
  • Lab 06: Momemtum; Oct. 15.
  • Oct. 22: No formal lab this week. There will be a general review of the material for the second exam during this time.
  • Lab 07: Rotational Motion; Oct. 29.
  • Lab 08: Rotational Dynamics; Nov. 5.
  • Lab 09: Hooke's Law and simple pendulums; Nov. 12.
  • Nov. 19: No formal lab this week. There will be a general review of the material for the second exam during this time.
  • Lab 10: Archimedes' Principle; Dec. 03.
