Food Ideas
When planning a party food is often low on the list of priorities.  However, no responsible host is without it!  Having food helps slow alcohol intake and absorption - Here are some quick and fun ideas!
Sandwiches

Foot Long Subs

1 loaf of Italian Bread

Assorted Lunch meats and Cheeses

Lettuce

Tomato

Condiments

Slice bread lengthwise to form the top and bottom of the sandwich.  On the bottom layer meats and cheeses.

Top with lettuce, tomato and condiments.  Put the top on the sandwich and slice for individual sandwiches

Sloppy Joes

Two pounds ground beef

One onion, chopped

Two packages sloppy joe seasoning mix

1 bottle barbeque sauce (any flavor)

Brown ground beef and onion in skillet over medium heat.  Drain off fat.  Add remaining ingredients and cook

 over medium heat until thick (About 20 minutes).  Spoon onto Hamburger buns and serve.

Dressed Up Peanut Butter

1 cup peanut butter

1/2 cup shredded carrots

1/4 cup sunflower nuts

1/4 cup + 2 Tbsp raisins

1/4 cup honey

Bread

Combine first 5 ingredients and blend well.  Use to make sandwiches with bread.

Veggie Dip

1 carton sour cream

1 package ranch dressing mix

combine above ingredients.  Chill.  Serve with fresh vegetables.

Food on a Stick

Assorted cheese cubes

Assorted lunch meat (cut into smaller pieces)

Long toothpicks or bamboo skewers

Thread cheese and meets onto skewers in random order.  Chill and serve.

Flavored Popcorn

Popcorn

One of the following:

Parmesan Cheese

Powdered Cheddar Cheese

Season Salt

Cocoa

Pop popcorn.  Sprinkle with desired amount of flavoring.

Chocolate Covered Pretzels

1 package milk chocolate chips

2 Tbsp shortening

pretzels

Melt chocolate chips in double boiler or microwave.  Add shortening and mix well.  Dip pretzels in chocolate

 and place on wax paper or wire racks to dry.  Chill and serve.

Ham and Cheese Dip

2 packages Cream Cheese

1 package shredded cheddar cheese

1 small package diced ham

Mix together all ingredients.  Microwave until it is melted.  Served with chips.

Bean Dip

1 can refried beans

1 small package of processed cheese (velveeta)

hot sauce or chili powder

Cut cheese into squares.  Combine cheese and beans in saucepan, cook over low heat, stirring v constantly

 until melted.  Mix in hot sauce or chili powder to taste.  Serve warm with tortilla chips.

Quick and Easy Dip

1 can refried beans

1 container sour cream

1 jar salsa

2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

Spread refried beans on bottom of a pan.  Layer the other ingredients on top of it.  Serve with tortilla chips.

S'mores

Graham Crackers

Marshmallow Fluff

1 package milk chocolate chips

2 Tbsp shortening

Break graham crackers into four pieces.  Spread marshmallow fluff onto one piece, top fluff with another

piece of graham cracker.  Continue until you have as many graham cracker fluff "sandwiches as you need.

Melt chocolate in double boiler or microwave.    Dip sandwiches halfway into chocolate then place on wax

paper to dry.

Oh So Cool

1 cup white grape juice


6 cups cranberry juice


2 small cans frozen pink lemonade, thawed


3 cups soda water

ice

Mix all ingredients.  Serve Cold.

Mocha

3 oz. unsweetened chocolate


2 cups hot coffee


3 cups milk, scalded


2/3 cup sugar


Ground cinnamon


Pinch salt

Combine chocolate with 1½ oz. hot water in double boiler until melted.  Add sugar, salt, cinnamon

and coffee; stir and simmer for several minutes before adding milk

Simmer ½ hour then whip.
