Study Facility Policies
Hours:
Monday – Thursday (1:30pm – 6:30pm)
Walker Hall, Room 153
The SORTS study hall is provided to support your academic success. However, the benefits gained from time spent in study hall depend upon how well you manage your time.
Study Hall tips
- Each student in the SORTS program will receive a scheduled, daily time to report to study hall. Sessions generally last 1.5 to 2 hours. Record the planned sessions in your academic planner.
- Come prepared with more work than you can finish.
- Use study hall time wisely and focus on your assignments. Read, re-write notes, make flash cards, and review.
- Use study hall to plan for major assignments and papers.
Study Hall Policies
- Students who do not produce their ID cards at check-in will not be allowed to sign into study hall. ID cards must be presented to receive access to Walker 153.
- Students who arrive at study hall with nothing on which to work will not be allowed to check in to study hall.
- Students are required to attend a minimum of six hours of study hall each week.
- SORTS study hall will be open from 1:30 pm until 6:30 pm Monday through Thursday.
- Students must complete the scheduled amount of time at each session.
- No electronic devices are to be used during study hall. This includes cell phones, music players, personal computers, etc. Calculators will be provided.
- Submitting documentation regarding completion of a LARC tutoring session will result in credit to the student’s study hall attendance record.
- Smoking breaks are not permitted during study hall. Students should plan accordingly.
- Restroom breaks must be kept to a minimum. Students should return to study hall promptly after a break.
- Showing disrespect and/or making any type of threat towards a member of the Peer Mentor staff in any way, shape, or form will not be tolerated.
