All students who are expecting to graduate in the Computer Science Concentration in either Spring 2020 or Summer 2020
ETS, who provides the test, offer a remote proctoring option and we are arranging this option for our students.
Yes. It should be just like taking a Zoom class with just you and the proctor from ETS.
No. You will schedule an individual appointment to take the exam.
I'm almost certain that I won't be able to see you. When the test was done as a group in the Unix Lab, I could see the number of the question each student was working on, but I could not see any answers. I don't know if remote proctoring will allow that.

You will be able to see your results as soon as you finish the test. Dr. Okie will notify the Advising Center that you have taken the test and within a few weeks your degreeeworks audit will show that you have completed that requirement.
Send email to Dr. Okie saying that you need to take the test. After he has made the needed arrangements, you will receive an email from ETS that will let you schedule a time to take the test. Take the test at that time, and then you are done.

We are hoping to have the details arranged
around mid-April.
We are also expecting that everyone will take
it by the end of exam week.
RU covers the cost of the test and, this year, the extra cost of remote proctoring.
From what I gather, the proctor checks your ID and your surroundings and then watches you during the test,
A good internet connection, microphone and camera, and good lighting. You can test your equipment here.

A test of a broad range of CS knowledge. It is written by ETS, the same people who do the GRE.
Actually, the GRE Subject Test in CS is no longer offered by ETS, or anyone else. But I'm told that the MFT is similar to but easier than the old CS subject test.
The first few minutes are spent setting up, entering demographic data, and learning the system. The test itself has two sections, each with 40 (?) questions. You have one hour for each of the sections, and I'm fairly sure that you can move to the second section as soon as you are finished with the first.
We use the test to see how well we are doing in teaching our students CS. Since it's an assessment of us instead of you, there is no minimum score. But, of course, we hope you will do your best so that get the best data (and so that we can brag on you).
Eighty percent of our students are at or above the 50th percentile nationally. Our department average is around the 80th percentile of the averages for all institutions whose students take the test. We frequently have students in the 90th percentile and above. We've even had a few students at the 99th percentile. Yes, we're proud of our students!
Each year the test is taken by some three thousand students, essentially all seniors, from around 200 schools around the country.
Get a good night's sleep, and see this web site for a description of the test and some sample questions.
In general, no. However, some students brush up a little after seeing the sample questions.
Look in the links in the few questions above and below. In those pages you will find links to pages that give a description of the topic areas and some sample questions.
