The McGlothlin Foundation, Radford University’s College of Education and Human Development and Blue Ridge PBS invite public school educators throughout the region to a celebration of all that is good about teaching.

  • Gloria Houston, Ph.D., award-winning children’s author

  • Mrs. Grace Wooldridge, retired teacher and honoree of Legacies: An Oral History Project

Gloria Houston, Ph.D. -- “My Great Aunt Arizona and the Legacy of Teaching”

  • Dr. Houston’s acclaimed children’s book, My Great Aunt Arizona, is dedicated to “all teachers, members of the most influential profession in the world.” She uses the story to look at teaching from a learner’s perspective.

  • Poster presentations by former winners of the McGlothlin Awards for Teaching Excellence

  • Book signing by Gloria Houston

Award Ceremony, McGlothlin Awards for Teaching Excellence

  • Recognition of finalists and presentation of winners of the 2008 McGlothlin Awards

  • Introduction of Legacies: An Oral History Project, featuring Mrs. Grace Wooldridge, retired teacher and Legacies honoree (project supported by WVRU Public Radio)
