Under Construction Softball: Who We Are
Under Construction is a slow pitch softball team from Henry County in South Central Virginia. NSA lists us from Ridgeway, but we have players from Bassett, Stuart, Axton, Fieldale, Martinsville, and even Charlotte. We play Class E through NSA. This team is a combination of two former NSA teams, Total Control and Nelson Ford. Although we are a Virginia team we play mostly in the Carolinas and occasionally in Virginia. We recently wrapped our first season playing NSA, finishing 13th in North Carolina and 9th in Virginia.

NSA Toy for Tots
For the fourth straight week Brandon Shelton and Travis Byrd of Under Construction competed in an NSA event in Burlington, N.C. This weekend the tournament was the 3rd Annual Toys for Tots charity tournament. The tournament was a fundraiser for the local chapter of the charity. Each player donated at least $10 of a toy of equal value to the charity. The charity was on hand to accept donations and toys.
Shelton and Byrd played for Carolina Drillers (Eden, N.C.). The Carolina Drillers received a first round bye, thanks to their previous participation during the fall season. In the second round the Carolina Drillers beat Called Out, which advanced them to the final of the winner's bracket. There they lost to the Triad Merchants (Burlington, N.C.). With the loss the Carolina Drillers were put into the loser's bracket final, playing Young Gunnz (Elon, N.C.). The game was won by the Carolina Drillers, which guaranteed at least a second-place finish. In the championship game the Drillers went up 11-1 in the first two innings, but then allowed 16 unanswered runs, losing 17-11.
