Ian's Tastes (or some of them)
- Games
:
In the frowningly infrequent event of Having Spare Time,
I tend to play
Magic or
Titan
(a strategy board game)
when other addicts are around,
or slide into a solo computer game
of galactic conquest, like
Spaceward-Ho.
Oh, and crosswords -- I'm also extremely capable of
spending far too much time puzzling over crosswords.
-
Music:
In my secret life, I am a DJ at
(Houston).
At home, I listen to many varieties of rock, mostly.
Favorite bands include
Brian Eno (his old vocal stuff),
The Chameleons U.K.,
frente,
Kate Bush,
Värttinä (Finnish pop-influenced folk),
and non-early
Einstürzende Neubauten.
Oh, and a kerjillion others (approx.).
-
Food:
A culinary tip:
Everything tastes better with capers.
Other tastes I delight in are
black jelly beans, and sushi.
When eating sushi (best as finger food),
may I humbly suggest using minimal wasabi,
and concentrating on the subtle flavors.
When full (or broke), only then cap the evening off
by asking for extra rice, and douse that in
scalp-tingling
concentrations of wasabi.
-
Books:
If you're so foolish to ask me for suggestions of
what to read (sci-fi escape reading),
I recommend
Startide Rising by
David Brin,
or
Speaker for the Dead
by
Orson Scott Card.
If you need to procrastinate immediately, here are some enjoyable
excerpts from Woolf
and
Vonnegut.
-
TV:
You even want to know what tv I watch?
Whew -- well, the only things I go out of my way to see
is
Babylon 5,
though I also enjoy stumbling across
The Simpsons,
Dr. Katz,
and
Mystery Science Theatre 3000.
- Other
likes include ranting about poorly written software,
and
thinking about cleaning my apartment.
My dislikes include actually cleaning my apartment.
