ELECTRICAL SAFETY
Scope: This training is required by OSHA for
employees who work on or near exposed electrical conductors and equipment.
Overview: Electricity has long been recognized as a serious
workplace hazard, exposing employees to such dangers as electric shock, electrocution,
burns, fires, and explosions. In 1992 six percent of workplace fatalities, or 347 deaths
were the direct results of electrocution at work. Most of these fatalities could easily
have been avoided. The purpose of this training is to provide training in safety related
work practices to all employees who are exposed to a risk of electric shock, burns, or
related injuries. This training will discuss OSHAs Electrical
Safety Standard, safe practices for working on or near electrical equipment, how to
use protective equipment, and how to safely use electrical equipment.
