Wednesday, 8/25
Noon - 4 p.m., MBA Orientation, report to Muse Banquet Hall. A Combined Opening Welcome/Essential Information/Training Session for returning and new MBA students will take place in the Muse Banquet Hall at 12 p.m. and concluding at 4 p.m. Lunch will be provided in Muse Banquet Hall for MBA students.

Thursday, 8/26
1 - 3:30 p.m., New Freshmen and Transfers not at Orientation (approximately 300), report to Heth 014 to check in. A combined Opening Welcome/ Essential Information Presentation for parents and students will take place at Bondurant Auditorium beginning at 4 p.m and concluding around 5:30 p.m. Students and parents will have dinner in Muse Banquet Hall, which will conclude around 7 p.m.

Students living on campus will be allowed to move into their Residence Hall between 12 noon and 3:30 p.m. If they have received their housing assignment, they report directly to their hall; if they have not received their assignment, they report to the Office of Residential Life on the second floor of Heth Halll.

10 p.m. - 1 a.m., Social Activities: Rock-n-Bowl in the Bonnie Game Room. Free bowling, billiards, and board games sponsored by r-SPaCE and Campus Recreation.

Friday, 8/27
7:45 a.m. – 8:30 a.m. Students will meet their Quest Assistant at Dalton Hall for breakfast. The Quest Assistant will lead them to their college meeting and academic advising in their respective rooms around campus.

10 a.m. – noon Quest Assistants will lead their students to the Registration
center. Student will register for fall classes.

9 a.m. – 10 a.m. Fall Orientation Parents Q&A Session in Heth 014.


Registration:

On-Site (includes fee payment and financial aid):

  • New freshmen and new transfers not attending New Student Orientation, Check-in Heth Hall: Thursday, 8/26, 1-3:30 p.m.
  • New freshmen and transfers not attending New Student Orientation, Registration: Friday, 8/27, 10 a.m. – noon.
  • Readmits not yet registered, Friday, 8/27, 1 p.m., Walker 153.
  • Graduate students, registration at the Registrar's Office (Heth Hall), or online continuous registration now through Monday, 9/13, to 4 p.m. only.

Note:

  • All fees must be paid in full immediately after registering for classes at the Student Accounts office in Heth Hall.
  • Parents of new students who did not attend New Student Orientation can pay fees for these students before the student registers.
  • Staff will also be available in the offices of Financial Aid and Student Accounts in Heth Hall only on Thursday and Friday, 8/26 and 8/27, from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., and the Financial Aid Office on Saturday, 8/28, from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Web Registration and Adjustments

  • Continuing Undergraduate Student Web Schedule Adjustments:
    • Each student can access schedule adjustment on-line using their computer access code or PIN number. Additional fees incurred due to schedule adjustment must be paid at Student Accounts.
  • Schedule Adjustment Times for Continuing Undergraduate Students (Open To All Students Except New Freshmen and Transfer Students)
    • On-line Registration: Saturday, 8/28: 7 a.m. – Sunday, 9/5, midnight
    • Registrar’s Office: Monday, 8/30: 8 a.m. – Friday, 9/3, 5 p.m.
  • Graduate Students - Web Schedule Adjustment Times:
    • Now through Monday, 9/13 to 4 p.m.
  • New Student Web Adjustment
    New students will not have access codes for web registration and cannot use this system to make schedule adjustments. New freshmen who need to adjust their schedules must go to their college advising center beginning at 8 on Monday morning, 8/30 for advising and assistance.
  • New undergraduate students in Roanoke - may not have access to the web registration system for schedule adjustment. New undergraduate students based in Roanoke, who want to adjust their schedules, may do so by reporting to RHEC, Suite 510, between 8/30 and 9/2.
  • A terminal will also be available in the Registrar’s Office for schedule adjustments, Monday – Friday, 8/30 – 9/3, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • The Schedule Adjustment Help Line can be reached at 831-5271 from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday – Friday, 8/30 – 9/3.
  • Enrollment will be verified through class rosters.

Extended Education Sites

Roanoke Higher Education Center – Roanoke (RHEC)- Contact the Site Director, Eulah Price, on the VWCC campus (2nd floor of Thomas Center for Advanced Studies) or call 540-857-6123 or 540-767-6190 (RHEC) for further details.

  • Classes begin on Monday, 8/30.
  • Operating Hours: RU's office on VWCC campus is open M - TH,10 a.m. - 7 p.m., and Friday from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. to assist students with registration and other services.
  • NEW STUDENT AND NEW TRANSFER STUDENT ORIENTATION IN ALL ROANOKE DEGREE PROGRAMS, Saturday, 8/28, 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m., Roanoke Higher Education Center (RHEC), Room 212.
  • Photos for RU IDs will be taken immediately following Orientation general session on 8/28, and will continue until 2 p.m. Actual RU Student ID cards will be distributed in classes or via mail at a later date.
  • Financial Aid Entrance Interviews: Students should complete entrance interviews on-line prior to the first day of classes. On-line access is available by going to http://finaid.asp.radford.edu/ or directly at www.studentloans.gov.
  • All textbook sales for Roanoke Students (Roanoke Higher Education Center/RHEC) will be available on-line through the RU Bookstore’s website. (There will be no textbook sales on site in Roanoke.) Students may pre-order textbooks by going to www.radford.bkstr.com. All orders will be shipped to the student’s home address. The RHEC Director will supply detailed directions of ordering procedures to the students. The RU Bookstore will be on-site at RHEC on Tuesday, September 7, from 4 - 6:30 p.m. to process any returns and buyback of textbooks.

  • NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION: Held during first class meeting
  • Photo IDs for SVHEC/RU can be taken at the Site Director’s office during the days of Extended Hours or by appointment. Please take proof of your RU status, i.e. your letter from the Graduate College or your temporary I.D. card.
  • Financial Aid Entrance Interviews: Students should complete entrance interviews on-line as soon as possible prior to the first day of classes. On-line access is at http://finaid.asp.radford.edu/ or directly at www.studentloans.gov.
  • SVHEC students can order their textbooks on-line at www.radford.bkstr.com. All orders will be shipped to the student’s home address. The Site Director will provide detailed ordering instructions to the students.

Class Schedule Distribution

Students can access their class schedule online anytime through the RU Portal at https://myru.radford.edu/ by clicking on the Student Information System link or by clicking on the Academics Tab and clicking on Registration Resources in the Course Registration box. Students without access to their computers on Friday or Saturday may use the computers in Hurlburt Student Center (The Bonnie) or in the McConnell Library. Computer labs in Walker Hall will be available on Friday, 8/27, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.; Saturday, 8/28, from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.; and Sunday, 8/29, from 2 p.m. to midnight (lab managers will be available to assist students in accessing their class schedule).
