Offices/Services Open

All offices will be open during regular hours (8 a.m. - 5 p.m.) for continuing students unless otherwise noted below:

  • Student Accounts and Financial Aid will be in Heth Hall from 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
  • ID/RU Express, Telephone and Parking Services will be available only in Heth Hall from 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
  • The Student Health Center will be open 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m.

Friday, 8/27

Sunday, 8/29

  • McConnell Library, 2-5 p.m.  (Members of the Reference staff will be available for library tours, and work-study students will be able to complete employment forms and receive their job assignments, avoiding the long lines that normally form on the first day of classes for their 45+ work-study positions.)
  • Note: RU Offices in Roanoke (Virginia Western Community College and Roanoke Higher Education Center) will operate at usual office hours -- 10 a.m.-7 p.m., Monday through Thursday; 8 a.m.-5 p.m. on Friday.
    There will be an on-site orientation and Q&A on Saturday, 8/28, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Roanoke Higher Education Center, Room 212.

Computer Lab Hours

Friday 8/27: 1 - 6 p.m.
Fall lab hours begin Saturday, August 28

  • Saturday: noon - 6 p.m.
  • Sunday:  2 p.m. – midnight
  • Mon–Thurs:  7 a.m.  – midnight
  • Friday:  7 a.m.  – 6 p.m.
  • Saturday:  noon – 6 p.m.

The Walker Hall computer labs will be reserved for registration purposes on Friday, Aug. 27, 8 a.m. - 1 p.m. Students who need to check their email or review their course schedule can use computers in Hurlburt Hall or McConnell Library.

Help Desk Hours

Technicians will be available during move-in to help students connect to the RU Network. If you need assistance, please sign up at the RD office in your residential hall.

Technicians will be working in residential halls during the following hours:

  • Friday, August 27 - 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
  • Saturday, August 28 - 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Normal office hours begin Monday, Aug. 31. Please call 831-7500.

Students Taking Courses & Services from Locations in Roanoke:

All textbook sales for Roanoke Students (Roanoke Higher Education Center/RHEC) will be available on-line through the RU Bookstore’s website. (There will be no textbook 2 sales on site in Roanoke.) Students may pre-order textbooks by going to http:// www.radford.bkstr.com. All orders will be shipped to the student’s home address. The RHEC Director will supply detailed directions of ordering procedures to the students. The RU Bookstore will be on-site at RHEC on Tuesday, September 7, from 4 - 6:30 p.m. to process any returns and buyback of textbooks.

Note: Students with excess financial aid have the option of opening a charge account with the University Bookstore. Students must apply for this option by filling out the Bookstore Voucher that is enclosed with their semester billing statement and return it by the semester payment deadline. The voucher process must be completed prior to submission of on-line orders.


Disability Resource Office (DRO)

Sunday August 30 -- All new DRO students who have had telephone interviews with DRO staff over the summer are strongly encouraged to attend an information session to pick up fall accommodations. Group sessions by appointment only (540-831-6350). Location: 1st Floor, Tyler Hall, Room 134.
