CQ5 Upgrade and New Components
Upgrade to CQ5
The Division of Information Technology is in the process of upgrading the content management system from CQ5.5 to CQ5.6. Currently, we are testing in the Pre-Production environment and Web Services anticipates rolling out the upgrade to the Production environment the week of May 26. There will be a small window when you will not be able to update your sites during that week, but we will give you as much advance notice as possible. The author environment will not be significantly different after the upgrade. We anticipate the “locked component” problem that some users have experienced will be resolved with this upgrade.
We will have several new components available soon after the upgrade of CQ5, including the long-awaited rotating banner for administrative departments, a new tabbed social media component and a new call-out box component.
Digital Asset Manager (DAM)
This summer, we will also be sharing information about the enhanced Digital Asset Manager (DAM), which will house thousands of images that you can use on your sites.
New Web Designer
Some of you may be aware that our talented Web Designer has left Radford University for another position. We are excited to have hired a new Web and Interactive Media Designer who will start this summer. Please contact your Web Strategy Liaison (Meghan Williams or Justin Thompson) if you have a project for which you would like support and assistance.
We will share more information throughout the summer about the upgrade, components and DAM. Have a terrific summer!
