The School of Social Work is located in the beautiful mountainous area of Southwest Virginia and provides a wealth of recreational opportunities as well as a strong community of students and social service professionals. The community strongly supports our programs and our Professional Advisory Council to the school consists of community leaders throughout this region. In addition to the town of Radford we are surrounded by Blacksburg, Christiansburg and the historic mountain community of Floyd and we are less than an hour’s drive from Roanoke. We offer ongoing program and classes in both Radford and Roanoke and we have an Abingdon cohort graduating in July 2012.
We focus on community based family practice; we prepare students to work with individuals, families, groups, communities and organizations in a variety of ways. Our objective is to facilitate student learning and to work with students as they develop the knowledge and skills necessary for professional social work practice.
We are proud of our students and faculty members who come from diverse backgrounds and who strive to always be outstanding members of the social work community. Our curriculum is sound and will provide you will the foundation to achieve personal goals and develop personal strengths. We are also committed to serving our community within the context of an ever changing social and political environment.
I hope that the information you find on our website helps you in your educational quest and we invite you to contact us should you need additional information. We are very pleased that you are considering the challenging and rewarding profession of social work.
