Spread the word, not the germs!
- Wash your hands as often as you can, for example:
- After using the restroom
- Before eating, serving, preparing or touching food
- Before and after tending to a sick person or treating cuts and wounds
- After handling garbage
- Open and close doors/knobs with tissue/towels or upper arm
- Carry alcohol based hand sanitizer containing at least 60% alcohol, for times when you do not have access to soap and water
- Clean and disinfect surfaces where you eat, serve, prepare, or handle food
- Avoid contact with wild animals
- Keep your garbage cans sealed
- Clean your hands after touching animals
- Animal waste
- Make sure your pets get appropriate care their vet
- Do not eat or drink after others (more so, when they are sick)
- Use antibiotics wisely and only when prescribed
- Read labels and inserts
- Remember antibiotics do not treat common colds and flu
- Consider getting the flu vaccine and other vaccinations as suggested by your health care provider
