    This is your chance to share your unique perspective, experiences, and life story in one-on-one conversations with fellow members of the RU community. During the Living Library event, visitors are given the opportunity to speak with "Books on Loan" to learn about others who are of varying age, sex, and cultural background in order to challenge prejudices, promote understanding, and encourage mutual respect. Look for this event outside of McConnell Library.

    Mr. Joe Cohn, Legislative and Policy Director for FIRE (Foundation for Individual Rights in Education) will be on campus to meet with students and to provide a public lecture. FIRE is devoted to defending and promoting free speech on higher education campuses.

    Ash Beckham is a bold, dynamic presenter who speaks about empathy, respect, and the power of having real conversations. In an urgent yet humorous manner, Ash's speech "Give Voice to Your Truth" takes on topics like the crippling experience of being trapped in a closet, the difference between tolerance and acceptance, and the need to remove "gay" as a pejorative from our lexicon.

    National speaker, artist and advocate for domestic violence survivors, Zuleika Gonzalez will be at Radford University to share with students and the community a multimedia photographic series she created based upon her own experiences with domestic abuse. Her series will be on display at RU's downtown museum location, the Bondurant Center, on the following dates: Tuesday, Oct. 21st from 2-6pm Wednesday, Oct. 22nd from 9:30am-4pm Thursday, Oct. 23rd, 9am-1pm Ms. Gonzalez will be speaking in several classes as well as a large on-campus event to raise awareness for Domestic and Sexual Violence. The speaking event will take place in the Bonnie Auditorium on Monday, Oct. 20 from 5-6pm.

    Tim Wise (born October 4, 1968) is an American anti-racism activist and writer. Since 1995, he has given speeches at over 600 college campuses across the U.S on addressing and dismantling racism in institutions. He will be visiting campus on Wednesday, Oct. 22. Times and locations of events going on throughout the day will be announced at a later date.

    Dr. Mark Robert Rank is an acclaimed sociologist who helps us to understand the causes and consequences of poverty and inequality in the US. His new book, "Chasing the American Dream: Understanding What Shapes Our Futures," which he co-wrote along with Thomas A. Hirschl and Kirk A. Foster, helps us understand how these issues intersect with contemporary economic concerns.
