Types

Academic Experiences

SCI academic learning experiences incorporate a wide-range of high-impact, student-centered instructional practices including, but not limited to:

  • Applied research;
  • Service-learning;
  • Participation at a relevant professional conference;
  • Case-based or problem-based learning; and
  • Appropriately focused and structured travel experiences. 

Co-Curricular Experiences

SCI co-curriculars contribute target three areas of your development:

  1. Leadership,
  2. Reflective Judgment, and
  3. Intercultural Knowledge and Competence.

There are also three “tiers” of SCI co-curriculars.  The first tier supports broad exposure to the learning goals and objectives of the SC program.  The second and third tiers are more intense experiences that are often undertaken by students who wish to graduate with distinction as Scholar-Citizens or as Scholar-Citizen Fellows.  More ...
