Selected Topics in Counselor Education

Credit hours (2-3)
        
Two or three hours of lecture/seminar or lecture/seminar/experiential with selected topics in counselor education examined in-depth.  A specific course syllabus will be available when the course is offered.  A student may take this course for credit more than once provided the topic is different each time.

2. Detailed Description of Course

This will vary each time the course is offered. Possible courses may address such topics as:  increase communication skills, enrich interpersonal relationships, improve focus and attention, manage stress, and enhance creativity and overall well-being.

3. Detailed Description of Conduct of Course

The course will be conducted as a lecture/seminar course or lecture/seminar/ experiential course with readings, individual and group activities and/or presentations.  

4. Goals and Objectives of the Course

Course content, goals and objectives will be determined by the instructor. This may include (but is not limited to): Gained knowledge related to current trends in counselor education, reflected upon and shared this knowledge in writing, discussions, projects and/or presentations, and gained skills to enter the broader scholarly dialogue about the selected topic.

5. Assessment Measures

Assessment will be based on course participation and the level of achievement in specific course content. Students may be assessed through the following: oral and written participation, presentations, projects, journaling, peer instruction, leading, etc. This will vary each time the course is offered and determined by the course instructor.
