Option 2

Step 1

Take some classes and determine which formats you are most interested in teaching. We offer a variety of classes including Cycle, BODYPUMP, Zumba, Kaliente Dance Fitness, Boot Camp, 30 Minute Core, and many more. We are also always open to any new formats!

Step 2

Go to a training! Some formats require specialty certifications including BODYPUMP, ZUMBA, Yoga, and Kaliente Dance Fitness. There are also specialty trainings available in Cycle (Keiser, MadDog Spinning), Pilates (Mat Pilates), TRX, CrossFit, P90X, Insanity, Pure Barre, etc., but they are not always required in order to teach one of our classes. Free-style classes (cycle, boot camp, 30 minute core, step, kickboxing) do not require certifications, but trainings are highly recommended.

The Radford FitWell team offers several workshops throughout the semester that are often free and open to all students. Please check the Rec*IT Fitness app for any upcoming workshops.

Step 3

Apply online! Applicants must have a current fitness certification, previous experience teaching classes, completion of an approved fitness workshop or complete our ESHE 496 course. If you are interested or would like to know more information, please contact Liz Greenlee at egreenlee@radford.edu.

Now accepting certified applicants in Zumba, BODYPUMP, Yoga, Pilates, Spinning, Insanity, P90X, TRX, barre, and other specialized formats. Apply online to schedule an audition.

Step 4

Set up an audition! After submitting your application, someone will contact you to set up an audition. Please prepare a 30-minute demo of your class including a warm-up, cool down, and safe and effective exercises. Applicants will be evaluated based on their preparation, exercise selection, technique/form, cuing/coaching, interactions, and personality! Auditions are open to any Radford University students.
