Economics is Everywhere lecture explores U.S. military foreign intervention

University of Tampa Assistant Professor of Economics Abigail Hall Blanco will speak on the topic of her upcoming book “Tyranny Comes Home: Domestic Fate of U.S. Militarism,” on Feb. 6 at Radford University.

Blanco’s talk is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. in the College of Business and Economics’ (COBE) Kyle Hall room 340. Refreshments will be served at 6:30 p.m.

The event is part of the Economics is Everywhere lecture series and is sponsored by COBE’s Department of Economics.

Blanco earned a Ph.D. and a master’s degree in economics from George Mason University, and a bachelor’s degree in economics from Bellarmine University in Louisville, Kentucky.

The economist, whose research interests include defense and peace economics, is a research fellow with the Independent Institute, an education think tank based in Oakland, California. In addition, Blanco is an affiliated scholar with the Mercatus Center at George Mason and with the Foundation for Economic Education.

Blanco’s book, co-authored with George Mason Economics Professor Christopher Coyne, is scheduled to be released in the spring.

The Economics is Everywhere program launched at Radford University during the spring 2015 semester. As part of the initiative, students are offered lectures from economics experts and participate in a semester-long book club.
