Honors Academy to host writer Ella Morton
New Zealand-born, Australian-raised, Brooklyn-based writer Ella Morton is visiting Radford University at 4 p.m. on Feb. 1 in the Bonnie Auditorium as part of the Honors Speaker Series.
Morton, who co-wrote the New York Times bestselling book “Atlas Obscura: An Explorer’s Guide to the World’s Hidden Wonders,” is the senior editor at Atlas Obscura.com, where she has written about topics such as library-induced anxiety, Victorian streaming music services and the etiquette of marrying a ghost.
The upcoming talk will highlight some of the “most wild, wonderful and weird places catalogues in Atlas Obscura,” according to Niels Christensen, director of the Honors Acaedmy and professor of psychology. In addition, Morton will discuss how exploring the world informs what people know about themselves.
Prior to Atlas Obscura, Morton covered consumer technology at CNET and hosted Rocketboom NYC, a web show about people and places of New York City. She also interviewed Cookie Monster on the set of Sesame Street.
