Greek Week events planned

Another week of Greek games, philanthropy and fun is scheduled to kick off April 13 at Radford University.

The Greek Life community has collaborated on the annual Greek Week activities, scheduled through April 19. Sorority and fraternity members earn points for their chapter based on the number of events attended. At the end of the week, a fraternity and sorority winner will be announced and later awarded a trophy at the Greek Life Awards Ceremony on April 28.

This year's theme is "Everything is Better in Warmer Weather," and events include: a Kickball Kickoff, Game Show and Sidewalk Chalk competitions, guest speaker Lori Hart, the annual Philanthropy Carnival, air band performances along with a canned food drive, fields games and chariot races and the third annual Circle of Sisterhood 5K.

This year, the Greek Week Committee consisted of representatives from the Panhellenic Council, The Interfraternity Council and The National Pan-Hellenic Council. Members from each council partnered during the planning process in a collaboration new to the annual celebration. This year's theme and unifying aspect developed from the Greek Life Leadership and Fraternal Values course in which many of the committee members were enrolled.

"I’m very proud of all the work they have put into this exciting week of events," said Assistant Director of Student Activities- Greek Life, Robert Marias.

The week allows the Greek Life community to come together and exemplify their values of service and leadership. The entire campus community is encouraged to participate in Greek Week and show support for the many chapters on campus, Marias said.
