The Department of Management in Radford University's College of Business and Economics has appointed Iain Clelland as its new chair.

Clelland began his role Sept. 10. He replaces Dale Henderson, who had served the past three years as department chair.

"I'm looking forward to contributing to COBE and the department in my new role," Clelland said. "I have wonderful, supportive colleagues and together I think we will continue to develop and create valuable learning experiences and rewarding futures for our students."

Clelland earned a Ph.D. from the University of Southern California and M.S. and B.A. degrees from San Diego State University.

Clelland taught at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville and Washington State University-Pullman before joining the RU faculty in 2001. In the Department of Management, he teaches entrepreneurship, strategic management and business consulting.

Clelland's research interests include cooperative corporate governance, entrepreneurship and innovation, environmentally sustainable business practices and strategy dynamics.

The professor's research has been published in the Academy of Management Journal, Interfaces, Academy of Strategic Management Journal, Academy of Entrepreneurship Journal, Corporate Reputation Review, Business Renaissance Quarterly, and International Journal of Strategic Communication.

Clelland was selected as COBE's Outstanding Faculty Award winner in 2012.

"Iain will be a great department chair. He embodies the teacher–scholar model that is so important at RU, and he is an excellent colleague," said COBE Dean George Low. "We look forward to his contributions to the department's and COBE's continued success."
