Radford University will host 2014 Homecoming & Family Weekend festivities on campus from Friday, Oct. 10 to Sunday, Oct. 12.

These annual celebrations of the Highlander community bring the university's old friends back to campus, help make new connections between RU families and showcase the latest achievements at the university.

For alumni, this year’s Homecoming marks several celebrations including the centennials of both the student government at Radford University and the university Alma Mater, 85 years of Greek Life, and 40 years each of the speech language pathology program in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders and Men’s Soccer at RU.

Additionally, the Class of 1964 will celebrate their Golden Reunion.

This year, alumni can enjoy tours of the changing face of RU, with looks at old favorite spots and the newer additions to campus.

Family Weekend festivities, including socials, seminars, arts and athletic events, will take place across campus and give parents, family and friends the opportunity to experience life at today's Radford.

Visitors to campus can check-in at the Hurlburt Student Center on Friday from noon to 7 p.m. and from 8 a.m. onwards on Saturday morning. After check-in, the options will seem limitless as every corner of campus hosts a special event.

Some of the weekend activities planned include dance and theatre performances by students and faculty members, fascinating planetarium shows, seminars hosted by faculty members, open houses for RU's colleges and schools and the beloved Family Weekend Dog Show.

On Saturday at 10 a.m., President Penelope Kyle will host RU parents and families for the "Conversation with the President" in the Hurlburt Student Center Auditorium. The president will provide an update about the university, followed by a question and answer session and a light breakfast.

For sports fans, there are chances to cheer the Highlanders on in volleyball, soccer, basketball and more or run in the 5K Family Fun Run on Saturday.
