To commence Radford University’s celebration of International Education Week, the International Education Center (IEC) will host Director Arnd Wachter for a Director’s Screening of “The Dialogue” on Nov. 16, at 5 p.m. in the Hurlburt Student Center Auditorium.

“The Dialogue” is a documentary that follows four American and four Chinese university students as they travel together through Hong Kong and Southwest China. In this intercultural encounter, the students practice skills of cross-cultural communication and their honest confrontations and discoveries about one another bridge cultural differences through deepened understanding of the world, of themselves and communication styles.

Wachter’s work, through Crossing Borders Films, is dedicated to enhancing conflict mediation skills and deepening intercultural understanding through films about the interactions of youth from diverse cultural and social backgrounds.

“International Education Week celebrates the benefits and value of international education for students,” said Assistant IEC Director Teresa King. “Study Abroad experiences prepare students for a global environment and enrich their educational experience in many important ways.”

International Education Week at RU is sponsored at RU by the IEC, Scholar Citizen Initiative, departments of Foreign Language, Chinese Club, Global Highlanders ISAC, Model UN Club and Political Society. Nationally, the week is a joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education.
