RecycleMania 2014 ends Saturday

A few days remain in RecycleMania 2014, and we need you to pitch in and help us reach our goal. RU Recycling is striving to reach a minimum of 100,000 pounds of recyclable materials (mixed paper, mixed containers and cardboard).

At the moment, 82,960 pounds of recyclables have been collected with the March 29 deadline looming.

As of Week 6, RU is third in the state for mixed paper recycling, fourth for bottles and cans and eight for corrugated cardboard recycling out of 13 schools in Virginia.

RecycleMania is a friendly competition among college and university recycling programs in North America and Canada and a benchmarking tool for college and university recycling programs to promote waste reduction activities to their campus communities.

Winning schools will receive an award made out of recyclable materials and will win the right to host a special traveling trophy for the coming year.

Final results for RecycleMania 2014 will be announced April 11.
